North Highland at The Standard

North Highland at The Standard

Seattle, WA

The Seattle office of consulting firm North Highland is located in the historic shell of The Standard, a Seattle Landmarks building in the Central Business District. The tenant improvement creates a flexible work environment that embodies the company brand, while highlighting the Pacific Northwest identity of their first Seattle office.

The design celebrates the historic building by exposing its heavy timber structure, refinishing the fir floors, and salvaging the old steel fire doors as art pieces. An open office concept balances flexible collaboration areas and acoustically-separated work spaces. The central board room – fully equipped with video, audio, and projection – and the private teleconference “booths” support the tech-driven teamwork of the firm’s many locations. The custom reception area features locally-manufactured materials and a partial height wall clad in reclaimed wood bordered by blackened steel, combining warmth and precision. The bright kitchen includes plentiful counter and cabinet space, and a built-in counter with bar stools.
